Today is my LVAD anniversary (VADiversary). On 11 January 2017, the team at Brigham implanted an LVAD inside my heart to help it function better while I wait for a new heart. So it’s been 5 years. Wow!

It’s been a challenging journey of hardworking, heart, focus, discipline, patience, but also good fortune with many triumphs and successes. I’m grateful for the happiness and the joy I am allowed to share with Desi, the boys, family, and all our friends and for everybody that has been with me along this journey with us.

Our first son is now 7, and the twins (born after my LVAD implant) are now 3 years old. We’ve been able to travel. I have become a new uncle many times over with the birth of new nieces and nephews. I’m grateful for all the love and support I’ve received from everyone. Thank you all so much. It’s been a remarkable journey, including the advancement with the heart of a giant foundation.
